Department of English proctored online examination on 11th & 17th June, 2015 to Vinayak Shukla a student from the University of Texas, U.S.A, as part of his BS in Civil Engineering.

My Fair Lady - Movie

The Department of English screened a movie for all the II year B.A/B.Com/B.Sc students in the seminar hall at 2 p.m on 25th July, 2015.

Literacy Programme by English & Second Languages

Literacy Programme has been organized by English & all Second Language departments on 29th July, 2015 with a rally of students from Sardar Patel College to Parsigutta slums. Both the staff & students of B.A/B.Com/B.Sc participated in this programme. A survey was conducted to collect the information regarding the number of literates & illiterates and take necessary action.

International Literacy Day

International Literacy Day was conducted by the Department of English on 8th September, 2015. The Principal of the College Dr.Sailaja RadhaKrishna has told the students about the importance of literacy in helping the Nations progress.

Inter Disciplinary Activity by Political Science & English Departments

As a part of the syllabus Ambedkar: Annihilation of Caste for the B.A final year students & for all the I year B.A/ B.Com/ B.Sc students, Department of Political Science & English Department jointly conducted Inter Disciplinary activity by screening the movie Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on 16th Sepetember,2015. The main purpose of screening the movie is to make the students aware of the Ambedkars views on Annihilation of caste & his Philosophy

Report on English Extension Lecture

An Extension Lecture was organised by the Department of English on the 20th of November, 2015 on Learning Styles for all the I year B.A./B.Com/B.Sc students in the college seminar hall from 11.a.m to 1.00 p.m. The lecture was presented by Dr. Prasanthi Pallapu, who worked as the Lead Instructional Designer at the Center for Distance Education, Upper Iowa University, Fayette, Iowa, USA.

Report on Departmental Contribution

The Department of English has helped the Research Scholar Mrs. Nazneen from Osmania University, working under Prof.E.Suresh Kumar, Registrar, Osmania University, to collect the data from I year B.A/B.Com/B.Sc students. Her topic is Learning of English in Engineering &Non-Engineering courses-A Comparative study. Around 120 students were involved in this field work and filled the Questionnaire on 29th January 2016.

Report on English Forum

English Forum was conducted on 5th March 2016 from 10 to 5pm in the seminar hall for all the Final year B.A/B.Com/B.Sc students. The Principal & Chairperson of the forum Dr.S.Sailaja Radhakrishna, talked about the Importance of English language, IQAC Coordinator, Dr.Asha Chadda spoke on Personality Development. Literary Activities Convener, Mrs.N.V.S Subba Lakshmi talked about the Literary Activities & encouraged the student participation in the activities. The Convener & the members Ms.N.Sharmila Rani, Ms.K.Indrani Krishnaveni & Ms.Anusuya from the English Department spoke on various aspects. Nearly 120 students participated and made the programme a grand success. Feedback was taken at the end of each session.

5. Presented a paper in a one day National Seminar, organized by IQAC and the Department of English V.S.R.& N.V.R College, Tenali on The Current generation is unemployable because they have no Soft Skills, 30th September 2015.
6. Participated in the Faculty Enablement Programme on Industry Readiness in Soft Skills organized by Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge at St.Marys College, Yousufguda, Hyderabad from 3rd to 5th December 2015.
